ボカロクラシカクリスマス祭2023参加作品です。後期ロマン派に属するフーゴ・ヴォルフ(1860 - 1903)は、ワーグナーの影響を受けた和声法、ドイツ語の発音を活かした音楽語法やリズムなどが特徴で、ドイツ・リートの代表的作曲家として評価されています。しかし、(リート自体が日本で聴かれる機会が少ないため)知名度が高いとは言えません。今回はそんな彼の代表作の一つ「メーリケ歌曲集」から「眠れる幼子キリスト」をお届けしようと思います。元となったエドゥアルト・メーリケの詩には「フランチェスコ・アルバーニ(イタリア初期バロック派の画家)の絵画による」という副題がついています。その絵画は幼いイエスが大工である養父ヨセフの積んだ木片の上で眠り、木片が十字架の形を組んで幼子の受難を暗示している……という内容だったようです。検索すると元の絵画らしきものも出てきましたが出自や著作権が不明瞭な画像しかネット上では見つけられなかったので、同じくバロック期の画家ムリーリョの描いた絵を背景に使用しています。今回は原曲の歌唱とピアノ版ではなく、ヴォルフ自身の編曲による管弦楽伴奏版を選択しました。まどろむ幼子を柔らかく包むような曲調が特徴的です。"Schlafendes Jesuskind" (1888/1889)作曲: Hugo Wolf (1860 - 1903)歌詞:Eduard Mörike (1804 -1875)日本語訳: やしろ背景絵画: The Infant Christ Asleep on the Cross (ca. 1660) Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617–1682)歌唱: Eleanor Forte AI (Synthesizer V)音源・映像制作: やしろメーリケ歌曲集には「クリスマス・ローズに」「新年によす」など、この時期に合った曲がいくつか収録されています。原曲のピアノ伴奏版含め、興味があればお聞きいただければ幸いです。
